Clerk’s Pick Results in $200,000 Lottery Win
10/11/2011 10:22:03 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (October 11, 2011) – A Summerville man asked the clerk at Oasis One Stop #2 in Summerville for his thoughts. “What’s a good lottery ticket?” he asked.

J.R. Huey’s recommendation proved lucrative.

The $10 Strike it Rich! ticket Huey suggested won the Summerville man $200,000.

“He actually wasn’t even going to buy it,” said Huey. “I had the same face as him, shocked, when he won.”

The winner told lottery officials he wants to help others. He plans to make a donation to four different churches and pay his sister’s car payment this month.

Huey hasn’t seen the winner, a regular to the store, since he won.

“I’m just hoping I can sell another one,” Huey laughed. “That was the largest ticket I’ve ever seen.”

The Summerville man claimed the last top prize in the Strike it Rich! game.

The odds of winning $200,000 were 1 in 480,000.

Oasis One Stop #2 in Summerville received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 932,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.5 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
