COLUMBIA, SC (June 1, 2009) – An Orangeburg man says he and his family will take a little time to celebrate winning $200,000, then get back to the business of farming.
The father of three sons, who doesn’t want to publicize his name, says he feels lucky and blessed to win a top prize on the $10 Cashtastic ticket.
“It’s coming at the right time. We can put it to use on the farm,” he said.
The 54-year-old winner purchased his winning ticket at Piggly Wiggly located at 6611
Savannah Highway in Neeses.
The retailer who sells a claimed ticket worth more than $10,000 receives a selling bonus. Piggly Wiggly received a $2,000 selling bonus.
Since the Lottery’s inception in 2002, the General Assembly has appropriated more than $2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2009. In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008, more than 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery was returned to the state in the form of contributions to education, prizes, retailer commissions and payment to contractors for goods and services.
