COLUMBIA, SC (April 22, 2008) Every couple of weeks, Steven Rose drives south from his Flat Rock, North Carolina, home and crosses into the Palmetto State to buy gas and lottery tickets. He bought a MegaMatch 6 ticket for the April 4 drawing and didnt think much about it. Fast forward two weeks: I stopped by my favorite store in Landrum and noticed the sign saying it had sold a jackpot winning MegaMatch 6 ticket, Rose said. The clerk told me no one had claimed it yet. Then I remembered I had purchased a ticket for that drawing. The clerk scanned my tickets and told me I was the $700,000 winner!
The news hit Rose like a rock! Im still shaking, he said about two hours after learning he won the jackpot. I cant even think about what Ill do with the money, Rose said.
Rose has been playing MegaMatch 6 since the game began in February. He says he plays more lottery games in South Carolina than North Carolina, because he wins more often in the Palmetto State. Ive had better luck in South Carolina and this $700,000 win proves it, he said.
The winning MegaMatch 6 numbers in the April 4 drawing were 1, 14, 17, 20, 21 and 30.
Since its inception in 2002, the South Carolina Education Lottery has launched more than 260 instant games and six online games. Currently, SCEL offers 39 instant games and five online games. During the past six years, the support the South Carolina Education Lottery has received from players and retailers is responsible for the General Assembly appropriating more than $1.74 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2008.
