COLUMBIA, SC (January 14, 2008) – A Powerball® ticket worth an impressive $600,000 remains unclaimed. The ticket was sold at Markette Store #24, 1400 East McIver Road, in Florence.
The player correctly matched all five white ball numbers in the Wednesday, January 9 drawing and purchased the PowerPlay® multiplier option, resulting in a win of $600,000. The winning numbers were: 2, 13, 20, 21, and 23, and the PowerPlay® number drawn was 3. The ticket missed winning the $71 million Powerball® jackpot by only one number, the red Powerball® number 24!
“Powerball® produces thousands of winners each week. Even though the jackpot was not won, 482,331 players walked away with some prize in Wednesday’s drawing,” said South Carolina Education Lottery Executive Director Ernie Passailaigue. “We always encourage our players to check their tickets carefully, because they might be holding a winning ticket and just not realize it.”
The Powerball® jackpot for the Wednesday, January 16 drawing is an estimated $95 million!
Powerball® is played in 29 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
