THREE’S A CHARM FOR PICK 3 PLAYERS!
1/10/2008 10:07:53 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (January 10, 2008) – Thousands of South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) players came out big winners in the January 8, 2008, evening Pick 3 drawing when they played straight 3’s. The numbers 3-3-3 were selected, and 4,099 tickets correctly matched the winning numbers. Each Pick 3 winning ticket paid $250, bringing the total payout to $1,024,750.
“Anytime identical numbers are chosen during the drawing, we always have a huge payout,” said SCEL’s Executive Director Ernest L. Passailaigue. “The complete randomness of the Lottery is what makes our games so exciting,” he added.
This isn’t the first time triple 3’s have been drawn in a Pick 3 drawing. It happened during the midday drawings on July 27, 2007, and August 16, 2003, and the evening drawing on February 4, 2005.
Players wanting to know how often their numbers are drawn can visit SCEL’s website, www.sceducationlottery.com, and click on the game icon of interest. Players can enter their numbers in the “Did my numbers ever win?” box to find out if and when their numbers were drawn.
Since its inception in 2002, the South Carolina Education Lottery has launched more than 240 instant games and five online games. Currently, SCEL offers 39 instant games and four online games. SCEL produces an average of four new games each month in a variety of themes, play styles, and price points of $1 - $10. During the past six years, the support the South Carolina Education Lottery has received from players and retailers is responsible for the General Assembly appropriating more than $1.74 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2008.
