11/2/2007 9:12:25 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (November 2, 2007) – Crab Cakes and football, two of the Palmetto State’s favorite pastimes will come together for one tasty celebration Thursday, November 8, from 5 – 8 P.M. Join the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) and the Blue Marlin Restaurant for “Taste of the Lowcountry” in honor of the Lottery’s $2 “Carolina Crab Cakes” instant ticket. A drawing for a Steve Spurrier signed football will be held.

Stop by the Blue Marlin restaurant, 1200 Lincoln Street in the Vista, and enjoy samples of the restaurant’s signature lowcountry dishes such as Charleston Crab Cakes, and Shrimp and Grits. Lottery tickets will also be sold during the event.

A $10 lottery purchase will allow players to spin the prize wheel for great promotional items and also be entered in a second-chance drawing featuring a special prize any Gamecock fan would treasure: a Steve Spurrier signed football!

The Carolina Crab Cakes instant lottery ticket launched this summer and has proved to be a hit with players, especially Blue Marlin owner Bill Dukes.

Since its inception in 2002, the South Carolina Education Lottery has launched more than 220 instant games and five online games. Currently, SCEL offers approximately 30 instant games and four online games at more than 3,500 lottery retailers statewide. Traditionally, SCEL produces an average of four new games each month in a variety of themes, play styles, and price points of $1 - $10. During the past five years, the support the South Carolina Education Lottery has received from players and retailers is responsible for the General Assembly appropriating more than $1.74 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2008
