COLUMBIA, SC (October 5, 2007) – The South Carolina Education Lottery’s (SCEL) Executive Director, Ernie Passailaigue, became President of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) after an election held during the NASPL meeting on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, in Lexington, Kentucky. NASPL was founded in 1971 and has grown into an active, professional association representing 51 lottery organizations in North America.

“This milestone was only achieved because of the support and guidance received from the South Carolina Education Lottery Commission combined with the staff’s hard work over the past six years,” NASPL President Ernie Passailaigue said after being elected to the post.

Tim Madden, Chairman of the South Carolina Education Lottery Commission, added, “The Commission is very proud of the leadership that Ernie has provided to the South Carolina Education Lottery. He is a visionary, and his leadership will be an asset to the national organization as the lottery industry faces continued challenges.”

Ernie Passailaigue is the Executive Director of SCEL and has been since its inception in 2001. He has served in various offices in NASPL before being elected its president. For further information, please contact Julie Huffman at 803-737-2574.
