Check your lottery tickets now! Executive Director Ernie Passailaigue of the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) stated there are two players in South Carolina who won $1 million each and were one number away from winning the Powerball® jackpot of $214 million on Saturday night.

Two Powerball® tickets matched five white ball numbers and the PowerPlay® option was purchased resulting in two $1 million prizes! The first winning ticket was sold in the Pendleton area, and the second winning ticket was sold in the Fort Mill vicinity. No one has come forward yet to claim their prizes!

The winning white ball numbers were 12, 15, 28, 31, and 50. The red Powerball® was 12 and the PowerPlay® was 5. No one hit the Powerball® jackpot, but across the state 59,415 total tickets sold matched at least one number to win a prize.

Ernie Passailaigue said, “The two $1,000,000 winners each chose the PowerPlay® option and multiplied their winnings byfive times. For an additional $1 investment, they PowerPlayed their winnings from $200,000 to $1 million and won $800,000 more.” PowerPlay® is a special feature allowing winners to multiply the original prize amount by 2, 3, 4 or 5 times (does not include the jackpot). Players must choose the PowerPlay® option when they buy their Powerball® tickets, and then the ticket must match one of the non-jackpot prizes before the multiplier takes effect.

Since its inception in 2002, the support the South Carolina Education Lottery has received from players and retailers is responsible for the General Assembly appropriating more than $1.7 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2008.

The estimated jackpot for this Wednesday’s drawing is a whopping $245,000,000!

Please remember to play responsibly!
