5/31/2007 11:39:05 AM

She won $800,000 with PowerPlay®

COLUMBIA, SC: A 53-year-old West Palm Beach, Florida woman was visiting relatives nearly two weeks ago when someone told her to purchase a South Carolina Education Lottery Powerball® ticket. That single Powerball® won her $800,000.

“I’ve never played the game before,” said the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous. “I only purchased one ticket.”

The Florida woman purchased her ticket at Al Daley Mini Mart, located at 8275 Garners Ferry Road in Columbia. The ticket was for the Wednesday, May 23, 2007, Powerball® drawing. The white numbers drawn were: 3, 11, 24, 36, and 38. The red Powerball® number was 6 and the PowerPlay® multiplier was 4.

“My friend called me with the numbers and told me I won,” said the woman. “I came back up for the holiday weekend to cash in.”

The woman plans to use her winnings to publish her book.
