LEESVILLE MAN WINS $100,000 TAXES PAID!

Top prize won on Instant Carolina 5.

COLUMBIA, SC: John “Ken” LeNeve, of Leesville, waited anxiously this weekend for the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL)’s Columbia Claims Center to open its doors Monday, May 7, 2007. That’s because he won $100,000 taxes paid on the Lottery’s Instant Carolina 5 ticket.

“My wife sent me to the grocery store to buy a couple of things,” said LeNeve. “I was in the ice cream aisle when I realized I had won big.”

LeNeve nearly froze in disbelief and took his ticket to the customer service desk.

“I handed the cashier my ticket and asked her how much she thought I won,” said LeNeve. “She told me, ‘It looks like you won $100.’ I told her to look again and she screamed.”

LeNeve immediately signed the back of his ticket and placed it in a fire proof lock box until he arrived at the claims center. He purchased his ticket at Bi-Lo #135 located at 412 Columbia Avenue in Lexington.

“I plan to give my church some money, pay off a couple of credit cards,” said LeNeve. “The rest will go to my wife!”

Instant Carolina 5 ticket sales began August 9, 2005. As of May 7, 2007, two top prizes of $100,000 taxes paid remain in the game. There are still remaining or unclaimed total prizes of more than $11 million.
