Columbia, SC: When Kevin Varnadore, of Mount Pleasant, read the horoscope in the Tuesday edition of the Post and Courier, he probably didn’t think it would come true.

“It read something like, ‘Time to refurbish your house, increase your house value and expect winnings,’” said Varnadore. “I immediately went out and purchased a Powerball ticket.”

Varnadore purchased his ticket at Kangaroo Express #3296 located at 2171 North Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant.

On Wednesday, the next day, the white Powerball® numbers drawn were: 11, 19, 22, 43, and 45. The red Powerball® was 34. The PowerPlay® number was 3. Varnadore matched the five white to win $200,000.

“About 10:45 [Thursday] morning, I saw the paper in the driveway, and picked it up,” continued Varnadore. “I screamed and hollered, then called my mom and dad.”

Varnadore usually doesn’t play the lottery until the Powerball® jackpot reaches a certain amount. However, the Virgo is glad he listened to his horoscope.

“I clipped it out and plan to keep my eye on it.”

Varnadore plans to put most of his winnings in the bank as well as buy cars for his parents and himself and share some with his two nephews.
