6/8/2006 7:50:17 AM

Columbia, SC: “I am using this money as a spring board to begin saving,” said Cherry McKey, of Charlotte, North Carolina. She won $1,000 on the South Carolina Education Lottery’s (SCEL) instant ticket, $40 Grand Taxes Paid. “It [winning] can really happen to you,” McKey continued.

The $40 Grand Taxes Paid instant game launched on September 27, 2005. As of June 8, there were five estimated remaining top prizes of $40,000. To play, players must match any of YOUR NUMBERS to any of the WINNING NUMBERS to win the prize shown. If a player gets a “dollar” symbol, the player wins the prize shown automatically. Get a “moneybag” symbol and win ALL 15 prizes! The overall odds are 1 in 3, including break even prizes.

McKey says funding education through lottery dollars is one reason why she plays. “I think it is great,” says McKey. “More funds should be disbursed for college education.”
