Columbia, SC: Play responsibly is the message South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) officials want to emphasize to its players playing tonight’s jackpot, estimated at $300 million. The one- time cash payment option is estimated at $145.7 million. This is the third highest Powerball® jackpot in the history of the game, creating quite a stir throughout the state.

Additional details about this Powerball jackpot run include:

• The jackpot run began on 12/17/05.
• The drawing Wednesday night for the $300 million will be the 18th drawing in this run.
• If the $300 million Powerball jackpot is won on Wednesday night, it would be the third
largest in the game’s history and the sixth largest in the history of world lotteries.

If the Powerball® jackpot rolls tonight, the estimated jackpot for Saturday, February 18, will be $365 million. The Match 5 Bonus Prize feature will also be activated.

Match 5 Bonus is a Powerball® feature added in 2002. The feature is activated when the Powerball® jackpot surpasses the record jackpot level, which is currently $340 million. The new bonus feature limits the jackpot growth to no more than $25 million per draw. The portion of sales that normally would have been added to the jackpot amount above the $365 million will move to the new Bonus Prize Pool to be equally divided among the Match 5 Bonus prize winners.
