BISHOPVILLE and LAURENS PLAYERS WIN CRUISE!
1/26/2006 11:45:33 AM

Cruise is in conjunction with SCEL’s Powerball® Promotion.

Columbia, SC: Rayburn Gardner, of Bishopville, will be cruising to Bermuda this fall, thanks to South Carolina Education Lottery’s (SCEL) Cruise Away with PowerPlay® promotion. Gardner won one of two Grand Prizes on Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at a drawing held aboard AquaSafaris’ Palmetto Breeze Charter Boat.

“I’m in total shock,” said Gardner. “I won’t brag about this trip at first, but if people ask me about it, I’ll have lots to say.”

Out of more than 47,700 entries, Gardner, and six other contestants were finalists for the promotion. Gardner had a choice of two cruise destinations on the Norwegian Cruise Line —cruise to the Western Caribbean or Bermuda. Both cruises leave out of Charleston.

After the finalists were lined-up in alphabetical order, he/she chose a number from one to seven. The first number drawn out of the draw container won the Grand Prize. The second number drawn won the cruise the destination Gardner did not select.

Robert Stephens, of Laurens, won the second cruise to the Western Caribbean.

“My wife and I will celebrate our fifth anniversary this year,” said Stephens. “She wanted to go to the Caribbean.”

The remaining five finalists will each receive a cruise for four aboard AquaSafaris’ dinner cruise out of Charleston.

To enter the drawing, a player had to purchase $5 in Powerball®, along with $5 PowerPlay®, a total of $10 purchase, for an entry form print. Players were asked to complete the form and mail it in for a chance win additional prizes. The promotion started on November 7, 2005, and all entries had to be submitted by January 4, 2006.

The other five finalists are:

• Judy Ammons, of Lamar
• Michael Bennett, of York
• Ramona Currie of, Hope Hills, NC
• Matthew J. Hallman, of Irmo
• Brinderlyn Johnson, of Charlotte, NC

The trips are provided by Tee Times and Totally Travel.
