SEVEN FINALISTS VIE FOR CRUISE!

Cruise is in conjunction with SCEL’s Powerball® Promotion.

Columbia, SC (January 12, 2006): South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) will be ending its Winter Promotion, Cruise Away with PowerPlay®, by giving away two cruises on the Norwegian Cruise Line. Both cruises will leave out of Charleston. Out of more than 47,700 entries, seven finalists were drawn.

The finalists will be vying for his/her choice of cruise destinations, Bermuda or the Western Caribbean. The other five finalists will each receive a cruise for four aboard AquaSafaris’ dinner cruise, out of Charleston.

To enter the drawing, a player had to purchase $5 in Powerball®, along with $5 PowerPlay®, a total of $10 purchase, for an entry form print. Players were asked to complete the form and mail it in for a chance win additional prizes. The promotion started on November 7, 2005, and all entries had to be submitted by January 4, 2006.

The seven finalists are:


  • Judy Ammons, of Lamar

  • Michael Bennett, of York

  • Ramona Currie of, Hope Hills, NC

  • Rayburn Gardner, of Bishopville

  • Matthew J. Hallman, of Irmo

  • Brinderlyn Johnson, of Charlotte, NC

  • Robert Stephens, of Laurens


At 1 p.m., on January 25, all seven finalists will gather at Patriots Point and board the Palmetto Breeze. The first Grand Prize winner will choose whether to cruise to the Western Caribbean or Bermuda. The second runner-up will receive the Grand Prize the first winner does not select.


The trips are provided by Tee Times and Totally Travel.
