Players broke SCEL’s bank!

Pick3 Players Win BigColumbia, SC (December 5, 2005): South Carolina Education Lottery’s (SCEL) Pick 3 account is in the red, at least for one draw! That’s because SCEL’s Pick 3 players literally broke the lottery’s bank! On Friday, December 2, the evening Pick 3 winning numbers were 9 – 9 – 9.

“9 – 9 – 9 is a popular ‘dream book’ number. Triples are the most popular three-digit combination played by number players,” shared Tony Cooper, SCEL’s Chief Operating Officer.

Pick 3 players wagered more than $269,600 for Friday’s evening draw. Players won more than $1.1 million. That’s slightly more than four times what lottery sales brought in for the draw.

“Pick 3’s hit is an example of why they call our enterprise a lottery. The bigger story still remains that we have transferred nearly a billion dollars to the Education Lottery Account,” Cooper added.
