Walterboro Man Multiplies His Winnings To $1 Milli
11/9/2005

Columbia, SC (November 9, 2005): In less than three months, the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) had two South Carolina Powerball® millionaires! The latest is a 29-year-old man from Walterboro. He matched the five white Powerball® numbers in the Wednesday, November 2, drawing. The winning Powerball numbers were: 6 - 11 - 14 - 27 – 41. The Powerball® number was 38. The PowerPlay number was 5.

The winning ticket was purchased at E-Z Shop #9 located at 3304 Robertson Boulevard, in Walterboro. The winner quick-picked his Powerball® numbers and paid an extra $1 for the PowerPlay option.

“Someone told me that it wasn’t the $36 million, it was the million,” said the Walterboro man. “So I said, ‘Let me go back and check the numbers over again,’ and I realized I had the numbers.”

The 29-year-old came to the Columbia Claim Center with his father. They own a family business in Walterboro and wish to remain anonymous. However, the winnings have not fazed him.

“After I checked the numbers, I went to bed and got back up to go to work.”

The son continued, “I don’t think this is a lot of money. I plan to save it.” His father, however, was a little more excited about his son’s new found wealth. “This is great. We are not from Walterboro, but we plan to stay in the area.”

On October 10, Francis H. Stephenson, of Chester, was the first South Carolinian to claim a million dollars on Powerball® since the game was enhanced in late August.

The Powerball® jackpot in tonight’s drawing is expected to be $20 million.
