Chesterfield man goes "bonanza" over lottery winni

Columbia, SC (February 22, 2005): The probability of being struck by lightening twice in the same spot is slim to none. But one Chesterfield County man was struck four times-- with luck. Charles Love, of Chesterfield, won four times in one day playing the same game, Cash Bonanza 2, a South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) instant ticket. His lucky strike included the game’s top prize of $250,000.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said Love. “God was in my favor.”

Love, married with one child, was in the local Piggly Wiggly cashing in a $100 Cash Bonanza 2 ticket. “I asked the clerk for another ticket and I won an additional $10.” Love says he began to walk out of the store with his winnings when something told him to cash the $10 for another Cash Bonanza 2 ticket. “I scratched that ticket and it said $250,000, I just couldn’t believe it.” But that’s not all.

“Later on that same day, I was traveling in Cheraw and stopped by the local Quick Fill store,” said Love. “I played Cash Bonanza again, and won $500. I was long over due.”

His family could not believe Love’s newfound luck, so his brother-in-law came down to the Columbia Claims Center with him. “I thought he was lying,” said Reggie Lindsey. “I guess I can say now, he was telling me the truth.”

After a little splurging by his wife and family, Love plans to invest his winnings.
