COLUMBIA, S.C. – Aiken/Augusta area residents have finally won the lottery and players can soon watch the South Carolina Education Lottery’s (SCEL) live drawings on local television. Starting December 29, 2003, the SCEL’s newest official draw station, WRDW-TV 12 (News 12), will begin airing the nightly drawings as well as the Powerball Instant Millionaire game show.

To celebrate the launch of News 12 as SCEL’s newest official draw station, SCEL and News 12 will host a series of events on December 29, 2003. Starting at 6 a.m., News 12 viewers can watch the morning show with Domonique Benn and Jay Jefferies to win SCEL lottery tickets, provided by News 12, and lottery promotional items. At Noon, the public is also invited to join the SCEL and News 12 at Gas Plus on Georgia Avenue for lottery prizes and light refreshments. The Lottery Express, a 2002 Ford Expedition, will be on hand to kick off the launch as well.

“We’re thrilled to have News 12 join the SCEL as an official draw station,” said Ernie Passailaigue, executive director of the SCEL. “Until News 12 joined us, the Aiken/Augusta area was one of two regions of the state without an official draw station. Through our partnership with News 12, we are pleased to now provide players with the opportunity to watch the nightly drawings and the Powerball Instant Millionaire game show.”

News 12 will air the nightly Pick 3 and Pick 4 drawings at 6:59 p.m. Powerball drawings will be held each Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. and Carolina 5 drawings will air on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 p.m. The Powerball Instant Millionaire game show will air on Sunday nights at 11:30 p.m.

Other SCEL draw stations include WLTX-TV in Columbia, FOX Carolina in Greenville/Spartanburg, WPDE-TV in Florence/Myrtle Beach, WCBD-TV in Charleston, and WWWB in Rock Hill.
