Columbia, SC: This weekend, South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) Pick 3 players broke the lottery’s bank! On Saturday, August 16, 2003, the mid-day numbers drawn were 3-3-3. There were 1900 winning tickets with the winning 3-3-3 combination.

Pick 3 players wagered more than $93,000 for Saturday’s mid-day draw. Players won $475,000. That’s more than five times what the lottery took in revenue.

“We are happy that our players were lucky and we were able to share this unique payout,” said Tony Cooper, SCEL’s Chief Operating Officer. “We’re in the business of creating winners.”

The last time this Pick 3 players broke the lottery’s bank was July 5, 2002. The winning combination was 4-4-4.

Since January 2002, the SCEL has transferred more than $339 million to the State Education Lottery Account for distribution according to South Carolina Legislation. The SCEL’s net proceeds pay for specific educational programs, including South Carolina’s HOPE, LIFE and Palmetto Fellows Scholarships; the National Guard Scholarship Program; Lottery Tuition Assistance for two-year programs within the state’s university system; a wide range of technical upgrades for state colleges and universities; school buses; local libraries and gambling addiction services.
