UPSTATE WOMAN WINS CARIBBEAN VACATION
7/22/2003

Columbia, SC: Summer is the time of year many people choose to go on vacation. On Thursday, July 17, 2003, an Anderson woman won a Caribbean vacation by playing one of the South Carolina Education Lottery’s new summer instant tickets, Caribbean Cash! Destination choices include Jamaica, the Bahamas, Curacao, or the Dominican Republic.

After scratching the ticket in her car and finding the winning airplane symbol, Pamela drove back to work and told her boss, “I’m going to Jamaica, mon!”

Pamela told us she plans to surprise her husband by placing a suitcase and a bikini in the middle of the room at her home. When he asks about it, she’ll invite him to go along to Jamaica with her.

Pamela and her husband will receive deluxe accommodations for two consisting of six days/five nights at a Super Clubs Super-Inclusive® resort, round-trip coach airfare and ground transfers to and from the airport in Greenville, Charleston or Columbia.

The winning ticket was purchased from the Piedmont Petroleum Corner Mart at 2560 North Pleasantburg Drive in Greenville.

Since January 2002, the SCEL has transferred more than $303 million to the State Education Lottery Account for distribution according to South Carolina Legislation. The SCEL’s net proceeds pay for specific educational programs, including K-5 academic enhancement programs; K-12 teacher grants; South Carolina’s HOPE, LIFE and Palmetto Fellows Scholarships; the National Guard Scholarship Program; Lottery Tuition Assistance for two-year programs within the state’s university system; a wide range of technical upgrades for state colleges and universities; school buses and local libraries.
