Pick 4 proves to be a favorite!
4/7/2003

Columbia, SC: It seems as if winners pop up left and right while playing Pick 4, South Carolina’s newest ball game! The South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) has awarded more than $3.5 million in prizes for Pick 4 alone!

Pick 4 is one of the SCEL’s newest games. Players select a 4-digit number (0000 through 9999) for a chance to win up to $5000 nightly! Drawings are held at 6:59 every day.

A lucky winner from Columbia was awarded $2,700 for her Pick 4 winnings on April 2, 2003. She plans to use her winnings to make repairs to her car. Another winner from Columbia was awarded $2,600 on the same day! He is not quite sure what his plans for his money are. These winners did not wish to be identified.

A winner from Sumter, who also wished to stay anonymous, was awarded $2,700 on April 4th. Every day, Pick 4 winners are awarded up to $5,000 in prize money.

Players must be 18 years or older to play the games offered by the lottery. Prizes up to $500 can be redeemed at a lottery retailer. Prizes from $501 to $25,000 can be redeemed at any of the three lottery redemption centers.

Since January 2002, the SCEL has transferred more than $225 million to the State Education Lottery Account for distribution according to South Carolina Legislation. The SCEL’s net proceeds pay for specific educational programs, including South Carolina’s HOPE, LIFE and Palmetto Fellows scholarships; the National Guard Scholarship Program; Lottery Tuition Assistance for two-year programs within the state’s university system; a wide range of technical upgrades for state colleges and universities; school buses; local libraries and gambling addiction services.
