Lottery’s transfers total over $135 million to the

Columbia, SC: On Monday, December 2, 2002, the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) transferred more than $1.4 million in to the Education Lottery Account (ELA).

This dollar amount is only comprised of unclaimed prizes from the following instant games: The Logo Game, Scenic South Carolina and $100,000 Carolina Riches. This transfer does not include the lottery’s net proceeds. The proceeds transfer will occur later this month.

To date, the SCEL has transferred over $135 million to the ELA. Of that, more than $1.6 million comes from unclaimed prizes.

According the Lottery Act, funds from unclaimed prizes will be used to purchase school buses and provide funding for gambling prevention and treatment programs.
