Mix of Family Birth Dates Win Goose Creek Woman $50,000
8/25/2017 11:03:53 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (August 25, 2017) – A last minute decision to buy a Powerball® ticket paid off for a Goose Creek woman, winning her $50,000.

“I’m not paying anymore rent,” she declared.

The ticket, a mix of family birthdays, hers included, matched four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number drawn Wednesday night (6, 7, 16, 23, 26 and PB: 4).

The winner says she was getting ready for work, when she thought to check her ticket. She called work to say she would be late and drove straight to Columbia to cash in.

“I’m going back to work as soon as I leave the bank,” she said.

The odds of winning $50,000 by matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number are 1 in 913,129.

South Carolina had seven other $50,000 winners and three $200,000 winners in Wednesday’s drawing.

For selling the claimed ticket, Refuel #12 in Goose Creek received a commission of $500.

The estimated jackpot for Saturday night’s drawing is $40 million.
