7/5/2017 9:24:04 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (July 5, 2017) A Lexington man had some serious beginners luck, buying his first Palmetto Cash 5 ticket and winning $100,000.

Im taking a vacation, the winner said.

He says he played his birth date and his wifes birth date at the Mega Stop on Columbia Ave. in Lexington. He left the ticket in his car, and on the way to get it to check his numbers thought about how nice it would be to win.

He surprised himself and his wife by matching all five numbers 5, 7, 30, 31, and 33 in the Palmetto Cash 5 drawing on Thursday, June 22.

Youre kidding, was his wifes response.

Im going to keep playing, the winner promised.

The odds of winning $100,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 501,942.

For selling the claimed ticket, Mega Stop in Lexington received a commission of $1,000.
