Newberry Lottery Winner Never Thought She Would Win
5/16/2017 11:02:16 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (May 16, 2017) – A Newberry woman isn’t spending her $125,000 lottery prize until she prays about it first.

“This is life changing,” she said.

The winner told lottery officials that out of the blue she bought a $5 Grand Luck ticket at Ruby’s Food Store on S. Broad St. in Clinton. After putting her groceries away, she sat down and scratched off the big win.

“I never thought me, of all people, would win,” she said. “I’m blessed.”

Now that the prize is paid, Ruby’s Food Store in Clinton receives a $1,250 commission.

One top prize of $125,000 remains in the $5 Grand Luck game, at odds of 1 in 480,000.
