Prosperity Man Wakes Up $150,000 Richer
6/17/2016 12:25:15 PM

COLUMBIA, SC (June 17, 2016) – A Prosperity man woke up to some good news in The State newspaper. Last Thursday he fixed himself a cup of coffee and opened up the paper to find he won $150,000.

“I got real quiet,” he said.

He looked up the Powerball® results for the June 8 drawing, and the numbers in the paper matched four out of the five white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number printed on his ticket (12, 25, 37, 60, 69 and PB: 20). Spending the extra $1 for PowerPlay® tripled his $50,000 prize to $150,000.

Then he went to work.

This week he took time off to cash in his winning ticket. He says in a few more years he won’t be working at all. He’s setting the prize money aside for retirement.

The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number are 1 in 913,129. The odds of a 3X multiplier being selected are 1 in 3.31.

For selling the claimed ticket, the Roberts Express Mart 3 in Newberry received a commission of $1,500.

The estimated jackpot for Saturday night’s Powerball® drawing is $169 million.
