Shhhhhhh…Hartsville Man is Keeping a $300,000 Secret
6/9/2016 12:08:10 PM

COLUMBIA, SC (June 9, 2016) – You’ll never guess who won $300,000 in Hartsville.

The winner’s not telling anyone. And he’s good at keeping secrets. He’s known for two weeks and hasn’t said a word.

“I never expected to win,” he admitted to lottery officials yesterday when he came forward.

But a South Carolina Education Lottery ticket he purchased on his lunch break at Atkinson 165 on W. Lucas St. in Florence changed his expectations. He worked the rest of the day with the ticket sitting out in his car, before realizing that evening that it was worth $300,000.

“I’m a laid back guy,” he said, content with taking home six figures.

But our man of mystery did let slip one secret, his plans for the prize money. His house has just been paid off.

As of this release, one top prize of $300,000 remains in the $10 Mighty Jumbo Bucks, game number 790, that went on sale October 12. The odds of winning $300,000 are 1 in 750,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Atkinson 165 in Florence received a commission of $3,000.
