COLUMBIA, SC (December 18, 2015) – A Myrtle Beach man came home to $100,000.

He bought the winning Powerball® ticket before leaving on vacation, not realizing he won until he got back. His ticket for the Saturday, December 5 drawing (13, 27, 33, 47, and 68 PB: 13) purchased from the Kangaroo #3490 on Oleander Dr. missed the jackpot by one number.

“I can’t complain,” he said.

The winner benefited in a big way from changes that occurred to the Powerball® game in October. This time last year, his prize would have only been $20,000 for matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number with PowerPlay®.

“Retirement is going to be sweeter,” he admitted.

The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number are 1 in 913,129. The odds of a 2X multiplier being selected are 1 in 1.79.

For selling the claimed ticket, Kangaroo #3490 in Myrtle Beach received a commission of $1,000.

The estimated jackpot for Saturday night’s drawing is $202 million.
