Passing through SC, GA Couple Buys Ticket in Gaffney & Wins $100K

COLUMBIA, SC (December 7, 2015) – A Georgia couple passing through South Carolina on their way to see an NBA game in Charlotte, NC, played the lottery and won $100,000.

“We stopped to use the bathroom,” the winners laughed.

They also filled up their car and bought one Palmetto Cash 5 ticket at the QuikTrip #1120 on Lemmons Ln. in Gaffney.

At her boyfriend’s urging, the girlfriend checked the ticket the next morning.

“I got all the numbers,” she said.

“Check the date,” her boyfriend said, skeptical.

The ticket was a match for the numbers drawn on Wednesday December 2 (10, 18, 24, 25, and 35 Power-Up: 3).

So the couple took a detour to Columbia to cash in their winnings.

“We spent the money in the car on the way,” they said.

A kitchen remodel and a shopping spree for shoes are a few of their ideas.

The odds of winning $100,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 501,942.

For selling the claimed ticket, QuikTrip #1120 in Gaffney received a commission of $1,000.
