$1K a Day for LIFE Win Brings Newberry Winner to Tears
11/20/2015 4:32:47 PM

COLUMBIA, SC (November 20, 2015) – The winner of South Carolina’s first $1,000 a day for LIFE grand prize has come forward.

The winning Lucky for Life ticket sold by the BP on Main at 3206 Main St. in Newberry for last night’s drawing was claimed this afternoon by a local resident.

The winner checked the ticket at 4:30 this morning.

The reaction: “I cried,” the winner said.

A combination of sentimental numbers picked by the player (7, 14, 21, 32, and 33 Lucky Ball:14) were golden.

The winner’s next move might surprise some.

“I went to work this morning,” the player said.

And the winner plans to keep working despite accepting a lump sum payout of $5.75 million instead of the $1,000 a day for life annuity. After taxes, the winner’s check was for $3.9 million.

“I’m so happy,” the winner shared. “And I’m keeping it a secret.”

For selling the ticket, the BP on Main in Newberry will receive a $50,000 commission.

Odds of winning $1,000 a day for LIFE playing Lucky for Life are 1 in 30.8 million.

The next Lucky for Life drawing is Monday evening at 10:35 p.m. Tickets are $2 and available at South Carolina lottery retailers everywhere.

Good luck, South Carolina!
