Over $80 Million transferred to Education
7/10/2002

Columbia, SC: On Wednesday, July 10, 2002, the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) transferred $10,150,000 to the State Treasurer for deposit into the Education Lottery Account.

“Today’s transfer exceeds the revised expectations estimated for the lottery’s first six months,” said SCEL’s Executive Director, Ernie Passailaigue. “This fall, thousands of South Carolinians will avail themselves of new educational funds appropriated by the Legislature.”

To date, the SCEL has transferred $80,400,000 to the Education Lottery Account. Upon completion of the state’s independent auditor’s report, the Lottery’s net income will be revised accordingly, and the remaining money will be transferred in accordance with State law.
