COLUMBIA, SC (September 24, 2015) A Starr lottery winner was at work when he found out he won $400,000.

We heard somebody in Starr won, so a co-worker asked if I wanted to check my numbers, said the winner. As he called them out, I said, Got it. Got it. Got it. Got it!, and then I went nuts.

All five numbers on his Palmetto Cash 5 ticket for the September 10 drawing matched (5, 9, 29, 34, and 35). Because he spent the extra $1 for PowerPlay, his $100,000 prize was quadrupled to $400,000.

Right then he quit his job and retired.

He called his wife at work to let her know shed have to keep working.

Im going to play more golf, the winner said.

Odds of winning $400,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 4,015,536.

For selling the claimed ticket, Redi Mart in Starr received a commission of $4,000.
