Winning Wednesday for Two Sumter Players
7/16/2015 3:38:38 PM

COLUMBIA, SC (July 16, 2015) It was a winning Wednesday for two lottery players in Sumter.

Both had winning tickets in the six-figures.

The lucky day started off at the Shiv Food Mart 3 on N. Lafayette Dr. where a woman spent $10 on a 50X scratch-off to win $200,000 and ended less than four miles down the road at the Sumter Stop on S. Guignard Dr. There a man scratched-off a $250,000 win on the $10 Classic Cash ticket.

Both winners declined publicity, but the quarter-of-a-million dollar winner did share his plans for the prize money.

I feel super, he said. First Im giving to the church, and then Im investing.

He claimed the first of five $250,000 top prizes in the Classic Cash game that went on sale last week, while the woman won the final $200,000 top prize in the 50X game. The odds of winning the top prize were the same at 1 in 696,000.

It was the largest lottery win for both convenience stores. But its wasnt the first top prize win for Sumter Stop. In 2012 the retailer sold a Palmetto Cash 5 ticket worth $200,000 and in 2011 the store had another $200,000 win, this time on a scratch-off.

For selling the recent winning tickets, each retailer received a 1 percent commission.
