Belton Man’s Keeping $200,000 Lottery Win Quiet
2/5/2015 10:14:08 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (February 5, 2015) – In the tightknit town of Belton, one of its residents is keeping a $200,000 secret.

On Monday, a Beltonian, who declined to release his name, cashed in a top prize winning ticket for Saturday’s Palmetto Cash 5 drawing.

He picked all five winning numbers himself (1, 8, 18, 30, and 31), a fact he’s quite proud of.

“It’s just fun,” he said of playing. “When I get a notion, I’ll buy a ticket.”

His lucky spot is the Williamston Curb Market on Greenville Dr. in Williamston, a popular hangout in the area to play the Lottery.

And the winner says he’ll be back in to test his number picking skills again.

As for his secret, it’s likely safe.

No new car or home purchase will tip folks off.

“I’m putting the money in the bank,” he said.

Spending the extra $1 for Power-Up doubled his $100,000 prize to $200,000.

Odds of winning $200,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,003,884.

For selling the claimed ticket, Williamston Curb Market in Williamston received a commission of $2,000.

To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3.6 billion transferred to support education.
