Iva Man Says Winning the Lottery Trumps Retirement
9/4/2014 9:50:18 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (September 4, 2014) – An Iva man says the day he retired was the best day of his life. That is until this week when he won $200,000 in the South Carolina Education Lottery.

“I weighted it and winning the Lottery is better,” he said.

The winner and his wife were on their way home from visiting family, when they bought a Cash Money ticket in Belton from Carolina Corner on Anderson St. The next day they traveled to Columbia to exchange the ticket for their winnings.

“It was like BAM,” the husband said describing what it’s like to win the Lottery. “I didn’t know what to say, and my wife almost panicked.”

The retired couple says they’re in no hurry and will take some time to let the win sink in before making any plans for the prize money.

“We couldn’t sleep the night after it happened,” the winner said. “I feel really good today.”

As of this release, three top prizes of $200,000 remain. The odds of winning $200,000 in the $10 Cash Money game are 1 in 600,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Carolina Corner in Belton received a $2,000 commission.
