Losing Ticket Buys Columbia Woman a New Home
8/18/2014 9:06:03 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (August 18, 2014) – In a reversal of fortune, a Columbia woman’s losing lottery ticket won her $100,000.

How? The Panthers fan entered the team’s scratch-off in the Lottery’s Carolina Panthers Second-Chance Promotion. From more than 126,000 entries, her ticket was selected as the grand prize winner in last Thursday’s drawing.

It was perfect timing.

Less than 20 minutes after looking at a house she and her husband liked but couldn’t afford, she got the call from the Lottery notifying her she won the promotions final drawing.

Her husband says he watched her eyes get wide and she started patting her chest with her hand when she got the news.

“It was fate,” she said. “We’ve spent years helping others and now it’s our turn.”

The couple hopes to move into the new home soon.

“We’ll invite the kids over and say, ‘You won’t believe how we did this,’” the husband said.

A NEW $5 Carolina Panthers scratch-off is on sale now!
