COLUMBIA, SC (July 14, 2014) – A Piedmont couple is enjoying a week at the beach, and when they get back will start searching for a new home.

“I’m excited and already looking at houses online,” the wife said.

They won the down payment the morning they left for vacation. The husband visited the V GO Mart on River Rd. and bought two lottery tickets. The first one was a loser. The second was a winner.

“He came running in the house screaming, ‘Look! Look!’” said his wife.

“It has a comma,” he kept screaming. “It has a comma.”

And the six-figure, $200,000, prize revealed on the Silver 6’s scratch-off turned their already good mood into a great one.

The family packed up the car and headed towards the coast with the ticket in the glove box. Columbia was on the way, so they took a side trip to the Lottery’s Claims Center to cash it in.

“I called and told our family we were going to be a little late,” the husband said.

The Piedmont couple took home the first top prize in the Silver 6’s game. Four top prizes remain. The odds of winning it are 1 in 600,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, V GO Mart in Piedmont received a commission of $2,000.
