COLUMBIA, SC (February 5, 2014) – Not one, but two Spartanburg couples celebrated big lottery wins last week.
One winning ticket was bought by a wife picking up groceries and the other by a husband on his way home from choir practice.
“It feels like Christmas all over again,” said the $200,000 Extreme Green winner.
She won sitting in her car in Bi-Lo’s parking lot at 100 N. Town Dr. and drove home to cook tacos for her family.
“I was on auto pilot,” she said. “The whole time I was cooking I kept asking myself, ‘What have I done?’”
Over dinner, the winner and her husband made plans to remodel their home and spoil the kids.
About 15 minutes from where the Bi-Lo sits, Harsh Mart at 498 E. Blackstock Rd. sold its own notable ticket.
“We just lucked up,” admitted the $100,000 winner’s wife.
After choir practice, the couple dropped in at the convenience store. They cashed in a $10 winning ticket that paid for the $5 Kings of Cash scratch-off that won them the $100,000.
“We’re debt free,” the couple said, and still they have enough left over to buy a new car.
For selling the claimed tickets, Bi-Lo #5265 received $2,000 and Harsh Mart earned a $1,000 commission.
Odds of winning the final top prize of $200,000 in the $10 Extreme Green game are 1 in 600,000. Odds of winning one of the three remaining top prizes in the $5 Kings of Cash game are 1 in 480,000.
