COLUMBIA, SC (December 20, 2013) – A Myrtle Beach area man worried how his wife would take the news that he won $1 million in the Lottery.
“She fainted,” he said.
He told her he won Mega Millions® when she got in from work. She didn’t believe him, so he handed her the ticket to compare the numbers (8, 14, 17, 20 and 39 Megaball: 7). She blacked out in the kitchen floor.
The ticket, a quick pick, purchased from the Bi-Lo on Main St. in North Myrtle Beach matched the first six numbers drawn. Had the Megaball® number matched, a share of the $648 million jackpot would have been the couple’s to spend.
They’re not dwelling on what could have been, when reality is so sweet.
“I’m blessed and so fortunate,” the winner said.
The Bi-Lo in North Myrtle Beach received a commission of $10,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $3.2 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
