COLUMBIA, SC (November 5, 2013) – A half hour after winning $50,000 on a South Carolina Education Lottery ticket a Lyman woman wasn’t done celebrating.
A second look at her winning Big Money ticket showed she wasn’t finished scratching the card. She added to her winnings uncovering a $200,000 prize for a total payday of $250,000.
“I’m still in disbelief,” she said.
“Really?” was the only word her husband was able to speak when she told him about the extra $200,000 she won on the ticket.
The couple is paying off their house.
“I’m not lucky by nature,” the winner admitted. “But I’ll chalk this one up to luck.”
The Lyman resident claimed the last $250,000 prize in the $10 Big Money game. The odds of winning both a $200,000 and a $50,000 prize on the same ticket were 1 in 1 million.
For selling the claimed ticket, 357 Redi Mart in Lyman received a commission of $2,500.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $3.2 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
