N.C. Man’s Powerball® Ticket Falls One Number Short
10/4/2013 3:33:36 PM

COLUMBIA, SC (October 7, 2013) – For a second Joseph Wilson thought he might be South Carolina’s nearly $400 million Powerball® jackpot winner.

“I was real close,” the Supply, NC, resident admits.

He came up one number short.

His Powerball® ticket from Matties Quick Stop on Sea Mountain Hwy. in North Myrtle Beach bought the day of the drawing for the fourth largest jackpot in Powerball® history managed to match four out of the five white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number.

He’s not disappointed, $40,000 is special too. As are the memories of what it feels like to think you’ve won it all.

“I was about ready to drop in the floor,” he said.

Odds of winning $40,000 with the purchase of PowerPlay® are 1 in 648,976.

For selling the claimed ticket, Matties Quick Stop received a commission of $400.

To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3.1 BILLION transferred to support education.
