Myrtle Beach Tourist Takes Home $200,000 Souvenir

COLUMBIA, SC (June 28, 2013) – Vacationing in Myrtle Beach, a wife overheard her husband telling the kids he won the Lottery to the tune of $200,000 taxes paid.

“He didn’t even tell me he bought a ticket,” she told lottery officials this week when the couple traveled from their home in North Carolina to Columbia to collect the winnings.

She’s not too upset she wasn’t the first to know. She’s getting a new car after all.

Her husband was picking up gallon of milk at the Kroger on Main St. in North Myrtle Beach when he bought a Powerball®, Mega Millions® and Carolina Cash 6 ticket. The next morning he looked in the paper and saw his Carolina Cash 6 numbers (2, 16, 23, 24, 27, and 31) matched the six drawn on June 20.

He suspected he won some money, but kept it secret from his family until he could have the clerk that sold him the ticket at Kroger take a look at it.

“She told me that I had a good one,” he said, so before they went out to dinner he casually mentioned the money to his kids.

When his wife heard, she thought they should leave Myrtle Beach for Columbia to cash in the ticket, but he wanted to stay and enjoy the rest of their beach vacation.

A six-number game, Carolina Cash 6’s top prize includes Federal and state taxes which are withheld to net $200,000.

Odds of winning the $200,000 TAXES PAID top prize are 1 in 920,227.

Kroger #020 in North Myrtle Beach received a commission of $2,944.18 for selling the claimed ticket. This is the third Carolina Cash 6 top prize win in June.

Carolina Cash 6 drawings are Mondays and Thursdays at 6:59 p.m.

To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3.1 BILLION transferred to support education.
