Little Mountain Family Celebrates Christmas in June
6/26/2013 8:50:30 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (June 26, 2013) – Christmas was six months ago, so a Little Mountain man was surprised by the red and green holiday scratch-off for sale at Kents Korner #23 on the Edmund Hwy. in Lexington. He asked why the Holiday Wishes ticket was still around, and the clerk told him there were big prizes to be won. For $5 he gave one a try.

His wife jokes the family’s celebrating Christmas in June with the $100,000 he won.

“He was honking the horn when he pulled up at the house with the ticket,” his wife said.

He told me, “You’d better call the ambulance. I think I’m going to have a heart attack.”

She called their son instead to tell him Dad finally won.

The whole family plays the lottery together and wins together. As for their plans, they all agreed to whatever Grandpa wants.

As of this release, two top prizes of $100,000 remain in the $5 Holiday Wishes game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 480,000. Tickets will no longer be available after August 14.

For selling the claimed ticket, Kents Korner #23 in Lexington received a commission of $1,000.

To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3.1 BILLION transferred to support education.
