Dueling Jackpots Excite Lottery Players this Weekend

COLUMBIA, SC (May 9, 2013) – Tomorrow night’s Mega Millions® drawing signals the start of what could be an interesting weekend for numbers players in South Carolina.

The Mega Millions® jackpot has swelled to its highest this year at $154 million for Friday night’s drawing. Powerball® tops that mark on Saturday with a hefty purse of $270 million.

South Carolinians interested in taking a chance on Friday’s estimated $154 million jackpot – with a cash option of $115 million – must purchase tickets by 10 p.m. for the 11 p.m. Mega Millions® drawing. Tickets are $1 and available wherever tickets are sold.

Saturday’s $270 million jackpot ranks in the top ten of all time Powerball® jackpots. The winner can elect a cash option of $175 million. Tickets must be purchased by 9:59 p.m. for the 10:59 p.m. drawing. Powerball® tickets are $2.

Odds of winning either jackpot are about 1 in 176 million.
