COLUMBIA, SC (April 11, 2013) – A man from Little River wants to keep his $250,000 Mega Millions® win hush, hush.
His wife wants to shout it from the rooftops.
“You’d like to talk about it,” his wife admitted to lottery officials.
“But, we don’t want to do that,” her husband reminded.
He purchased the winning quick pick from the Kangaroo Express #461 on Hwy. 17 in Little River. He matched the first five Mega Millions® numbers drawn (7, 10, 14, 40, and 47 MB: 34) on April 2, to win. Had he spent the extra $1 for the Megaplier®, his $250,000 winnings would have been an automatic $1 million.
He’s pleased with the outcome and, as expected, wouldn’t divulge his plans for the prize money.
“Who knows,” he said holding back a smile.
For selling the claimed ticket, the Kangaroo Express #461 received a commission of $2,500.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $3 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
