Powerball® Jackpot for Saturday Stands at $216 MILLION
3/15/2013 10:30:22 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (March 15, 2013) – Tomorrow night’s Powerball® drawing is for an estimated $216 MILLION, the second $200 million plus jackpot seen this year.

“We hope a South Carolinian will be the one to stop this jackpot run,” said the Lottery’s Executive Director Paula Harper Bethea. “A $216 million jackpot is fun for our players, but we encourage everyone to please, above all else, play responsibly.”

The odds of winning the jackpot are long, about 1 in 176 million.

The last time South Carolina sold a jackpot winning ticket was in August of 2009, when Solomon Jackson Jr. won $259 million.

For a chance at Saturday night’s $216 MILLION jackpot, with a cash option of $132 million, South Carolinians must purchase Powerball® tickets by 9:59 p.m. for the 10:59 p.m. drawing. Powerball® tickets cost $2 and are available at lottery retailers statewide.

For an extra dollar, players may purchase the PowerPlay® option to increase non-jackpot prizes by a set amount.

Last Saturday a Myrtle Beach couple won a $2 million Powerball® prize with PowerPlay®. Without PowerPlay®, the prize would have been $1 million.

Good luck, South Carolina!
