COLUMBIA, SC (February 22, 2013) – Lady Luck lives in Florence.
For the third time in seven years, a Florence woman has won the top prize playing Palmetto Cash 5, a feat unheard of until now.
What’s her secret?
She’s faithful. Every day she plays Palmetto Cash 5 and only Palmetto Cash 5. Sometimes she picks her own numbers, and other times she opts for the quick pick.
Last Tuesday, February 12, she let the computer pick the five numbers (1, 10, 19, 20, and 22) that won her $100,000. Her previous two Palmetto Cash 5 wins for $200,000 each were quick picks as well.
“Goes to show you being in the right place at the right time helps,” she said.
Of the three wins, she considers this recent one to be the most unexpected, but not because she didn’t think she would win again.
“I plan to win it some more,” she said.
Confidence is her second secret.
She didn’t see this one coming, because she didn’t spend the extra $1 for the Power-Up multiplier, and according to her she only wins big when she does. Had she spent the buck, her $100,000 would have doubled to $200,000. She’s not disappointed with $100,000.
“I’ll put it in the bank,” she said, along with her other winnings.
For selling the claimed Palmetto Cash 5 ticket, Sav Way 28 in Florence received a commission of $1,000.
The odds of winning $100,000 are 1 in 501,942.
To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $2.9 billion transferred to support education.
