Last Week of September Lucky for Two Rock Hill Players
10/1/2012 12:01:44 PM

COLUMBIA, SC (October 1, 2012) – The last week in September was a lucky one for two Rock Hill lottery players. Each won $200,000 playing the South Carolina Education Lottery.

Both winning tickets were sold by MR Express locations in Rock Hill, one at 2120 Nations Ford Rd. and the other five miles away at 2316 Ebenezer Rd.

A stop for a loaf of bread at the Ebenezer Rd. store resulted in a local man buying a Super Cash scratch-off and winning $200,000.

“My heart was racing,” the winner told lottery officials describing the moment he beat the 1 in 576,000 odds on the $10 ticket. His win leaves one top prize remaining.

The winner and his wife have decided to pay off their house with the lottery prize.

The winner from the MR Express on Nations Ford Rd. did not comment on winning $200,000 on the $10 The Color of Money scratch-off. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 440,000 and three $200,000 prizes are still available in the game.

For selling the claimed ticket, MR Express and MR Express 2 in Rock Hill each received a commission of $2,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.8 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
