COLUMBIA, SC (August 28, 2012) – A trip to the grocery store ended in an argument for a Bluffton couple.
The husband bought home a lottery ticket from the Food Lion on Oaktie Village Dr. in Bluffton. He scratched the ticket and called his wife over to show her he won $200,000, but she saw it differently.
“We won $200,” she told him.
The couple drove to Columbia where South Carolina Education Lottery officials settled the dispute. The $200,000 Hot Streak ticket was worth $200,000.
The gentleman was right. His wife was giddy.
“I’m not sure how to handle this,” she said. “I didn’t expect it to be that much.”
The odds of winning $200,000 playing $200,000 Hot Streak are 1 in 480,000. As of this release, one top prize of $200,000 remains in the $10 game.
For selling the claimed ticket, Food Lion #2691 in Bluffton received a commission of $2,000.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.8 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
